With the exploration and innovation of company people, gradually formed four major advantageous products: steel plate, steel pipe, stainless steel, special steel.
Stainless steels are made corrosion resistant by the addition of chromium. Cutlery-grade stainless generally contains more than 13 percent chromium, the oxide of which helps to form a passive film that protects against corrosion and staining. Most kitchen knives are made from martensitic stainless steel.

Most watches that are made of stainless steel are made of this grade. Rolex is an exception in that they use Type 904L. 18/10 stainless often corresponds to this grade. Also referred to as "A4" in accordance with International Organization for Standardization ISO 3506.
304 stainless steel. It belongs to the general model, which is 18/8 stainless steel. GB grade is 0Cr18Ni9. 309 stainless steel. It has better temperature resistance than 304 stainless steel. 316 stainless steel. After 304 stainless steel, it is the second most widely used steel, mainly used in food industry and surgical equipment.
For example, 18/8 stainless steel is comprised of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. 304 grade stainless steel is also comprised of no more than 0.8% carbon and at least 50% iron. The chromium binds oxygen to the surface of the product to protect the iron from oxidation (rust). Nickel also enhances the corrosion resistance of stainless steel.
Stainless steels are engineering materials with good corrosion resistance, strength, and fabrication characteristics.Type 201 is less resistant to corrosion than 300 series.
Stainless steel must contain at least 10.5 percent chromium. Depending on the grade, it may contain much higher chromium levels, and additional alloying ingredients like molybdenum, nickel, titanium, aluminum, copper, nitrogen, phosphorous and selenium. The two most common stainless steel grades are 304 and 316.
The SAE steel grades system is a standard alloy numbering system for steel grades maintained by SAE International.. In the 1930's and 1940's, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) and SAE were both involved in efforts to standardize such a numbering system for steels.

Stainless steel is used for buildings for both practical and aesthetic reasons. Stainless steel was in vogue during the art deco period. The most famous example of this is the upper portion of the Chrysler Building (pictured). Some diners and fast-food restaurants use large ornamental panels and stainless fixtures and furniture.
Grade 304 stainless steel is generally regarded as the most common austenitic stainless steel. It contains high nickel content that is typically between 8 and 10.5 percent by weight and a high amount of chromium at approximately 18 to 20 percent by weight.
ASTM's steel standards are instrumental in classifying, evaluating, and specifying the material, chemical, mechanical, and metallurgical properties of the different types of steels, which are primarily used in the production of mechanical components, industrial parts, and construction elements, as well as other accessories related to them.
Alloy 20 Alloy 20 stainless steel is a super-austenitic stainless alloy developed for maximum corrosion resistance to sulfuric acid and other aggressive environments not suitable for typical austenitic grades. Alloy 20 seems to fall in-between both the stainless and nickel categories, as it does contain characteristics of both; however, the unified numbering system (UNS) does ultimately recognize it as a nickel based alloy, hence the UNS N08020 number.
This grade has slightly lower mechanical properties than the standard 304 grade, but is still widely used thanks to its versatility. Like Type 304 stainless steel, it's commonly used in beer-brewing and wine-making, but also for purposes beyond the food industry such as in chemical containers, mining and construction.

Which Stainless Steel Cookware Series Is Best for Me? 300 Series Look on the bottom of a stainless steel pot and youll see a grade stamped on it; this grade indicates its durability and resistance to rust and corrosion. Quality pots and pans are in the 300 series and designated as either 304 or 316.
This leaves the question: what is the best food-grade stainless steel alloy? The answer depends on the specific application the metal will be used for. For example, a confectioner manufacturing chocolates is going to have very different performance needs than a processor that specializes in tomato sauce.
AISI 316 Grade Stainless Steel (UNS S31600) ASTM AISI 316 stainless steel (UNS S31600) is one of the most widely used austenitic stainless steels. Due to the addition of Molybdenum (Mo), SS316 has a great improvement in corrosion resistance and certain properties.

It should be noted that even the best stainless steel flatware is subject to occasional pitting and corrosion if not properly cared for. Dishwasher detergents tend to be harsh to stainless steel flatware and that can sometimes cause blemishes.
18/0 Stainless Steel. This is commonly referred to at Type 430 stainless steel and is part of the 400 series. 18/0 stainless steel contains a negligible amount of nickel (0.75%) and therefore has a reduced corrosion resistance (is more likely to rust); yet the 400 grade is still very hard and durable.
